I took that as an exaggeration, given that it was a common threatening parental phrase back in the day. I knew some kids that got beat pretty bad. I'd consider some of it abuse. But I never seen anyone beat so bad they literally couldn't sit down for a week.
Hell, I fell out of a truck once at highway speed and it took all the skin off my ass on one side. I was still able to sit on it after about 4 days, so not sure what kind of a belt or switch you'd have to use to actually achieve the kind of damage you are thinking about.

Look, TJ used the illustration and you had no problem with it. You pretty much applauded it. WTF is anybody supposed to take from that?
So I'll tell ya what, I don't take the suggestion of any child being struck by any adult lightly. I don't much care if it's a stranger down the block who gets thrown in jail for assault when he slaps a neighbor kid for an F-bomb, or the kid's father slapping his son when he hears him launch an F-bomb. IMO it's still a kid getting assaulted.
I'm going a bit far afield here, switching to sexual abuse, but it's a point I need to make. Attorney and child advocate Andrew Vachss once said, "Molest a neighbor's daughter...go to prison. Molest your own daughter...go to counseling." Either way it's a little girl getting raped.

Except that a shot was fired in the car. (You can't make that evidenced reality go away.)
If you assault an officer to the point they're backed into their car? You get shot.
What may have occurred before isn't terribly relevant.

And if the LEO pulled him into the car? I'm finding the Ferguson police less credible with time and developments to include stifling reportage by force.

Then we're looking at resisting a form of arrest.
Again, bad idea.

Thru the window?
And if the kid refused to let the LEO cornhole him on the hood that would be resisting?

If being detained? And -- theoretically -- if such was required to detain him?
I am afraid so.
Obviously, it never would be but these things are VERY elastic once the "detain" clock is started...
That's just the law.

So he dies for walking in the street and being assaulted by a rogue cop? Do you think the locals have any say in who administers their town? It appears not.

And can the police drag a guy into a secret jail, go to his home, seize his 10-year-old daughter, rape her in front of the guy, and then take her out and shoot her? Are things as elastic as that?
Just trying to see if there is ANYTHING you won't condone, if the police do it.
By the way, the item described is the sort of thing that is done, by right wing law and order types, from time to time, here and there. And they think they are doing right when they do it, protecting the nation and stuff. So don't be so assured it would 'never be.'
