IIRC most of those names on the 'Nam wall were from the Nixon era.

I was apolitical right up until 2000.

Too caught up with the whole wife, kids, dog, cat, job, mortgage and credit card bills to do anything other than tune in about 3 days before the election and base my vote on whatever 30 second sound bite pushed the right button for me.

In other words I was the perfect target for the right wing propaganda machine.

I think the way Tricky Dick's administration ended in dishonor and disgrace set the stage for Reagan. Add to that Carter's demeanor and look what we got ...

Nixon was President when I got sent there, but I knew the war was Johnson's fuck up.

I was young and dumb, but not that young and dumb.

Blaming Nixon for Vietnam is like blaming Obama for Iraq.

I've heard stories about those denizens of Baltimore tossing rotten cabbages and bricks at the Union troop trains rolling through the city from parts north. Tough bunch in that town. Too bad Fell's Point has been all gentrified since the '70's.

Considering that Nixon ran on ending the war in 'Nam and then proceeded to add almost 35,000 names of yours and my generation to the Wall. I guess we will have to agree to disagree on Tricky Dick's accomplishments in that respect.
