We should ally ourselves with Kurdistan. First step - create a united Kurd republic.

Well that would then create friction between us and Turkey though i do agree with you in principle.

Hmmmm, Pentagon says no, it wasn't us.

"However, amid widespread reports that U.S. airstrikes had begun, Rear Adm. John F. Kirby, the Pentagon’s press secretary, said that “no such action has been taken.” Iraqi officials said the government had sent its own aircraft to aid Kurdish pesh merga forces." WaPo

Lockheed AC130s are indeed slow moving.

Some of 'em even carry M.O.A.B.s.

If we were to lose a C-130 on a humanitarian mission, we'd have a green light from EVERYONE (except Putin) to attack ISIS extremely.

It's even possible that ISIS will figure this out, and not take the bait.

President just announced he has authorized air strikes:

To protect US personnel and to prevent ISIS from wiping out the
trapped minorities.

Still needs boots on the ground to save the people on the mountain?

The Kurds whom we were depending on claimed that ISIS had better equipment - largely Americans left by the fast fleeing Iraqi army.
