Obama's Brilliant Strategy

http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-...ry.html#page=1

I was upset that the GOP might plan to impeach Obama when I started that thread about it about 6 months ago. But recent events make it clear he probably does not care if they try to do it....and in fact trying to make them look more and more intransigent in their opposition to him and the Democratic Party re the immigration crisis is going to make a Democratic successor to him in 2016 a fait accompli.

History may show that Boehner's refusal to present the Immigration Reform plan when he had a chance might be akin to Proposition 187 here in California, something that grafted support of the Latino population to the Democratic Party. This may be happening at the national level right now.
I am not saying the GOP is nativist per se.....but when some of the members go before the cameras and start talking in such negative tones about the children coming from Latin America the perception may begin to stick. The extreme elements of the GOP are in fact helping the Democratic Party.

Obama wanted the immigration bill. So since he cannot get it he will use executive orders to grant some sort of temporary status to those here already. If the GOP impeaches him on that issue they might as well forget the next few elections. If Boehner was really smart he would just let the immigration bill come up for a vote. Obama and the Democratic Party is going to win on this one either way.

It is one thing to oppose illegal immigration as a violation of law, a weakening of the legal system that exists already for legitimate immigrants, and even as a drain on governmental resources. But to oppose helping children from Latin America because they are a "threat" to our values because....they are from Latin America is downright offensive to most sensibilities.

This very well could be Obama's Clint Eastwood moment.

The whole things a joke and a huge waste of money. To impeach a pres, he has to have done something criminal.

That did not stop Gingrich and Co. from impeaching President Clinton who was basically fooling around on the job.
We later find out that Gingrich himself was philandering. Not the impeachment itself but the political drama (free media attention) that is valuable to the opposition IMO.

Obama and the rest are just playing political games. They are not really serious about the welfare of the country.

I hope you're not suggesting that The President of the United States has somehow attained "victim" status.

Politics is about the acquisition and maintenance of power, often done by rewarding your supporters and punishing your enemies. It's no secret that most politicians are far more concerned about their next election than the country at large, though I think it's worse in the House than anywhere else due to their short terms.

Not a victim but a punching bag. Birthers, Benghazi, IRS, ACA, the current border crisis. Need more?
