People are people. They will do what people do. It matters not whether a corporate flag or a state flag flies in their front yard.

That's my opinion.

We all have our customer service horror stories. Those stories have gravity and an individual who has a poor customer service experience tends to re-tell those stories to friends, neighbors, family, etc. Unfortunately its the good service stories that don't get retold as much. Many of us are predisposed to retell bad service stories more than the good service stories: sort of like how bad news tends to travel faster than good news.

As far as good service, anyone ever been into an Apple store? Typically I walk out with a very good experience, even with how crowded it tends to be in those stores. Apple isn't a small company by any means, but they've learned how to elevate the customer experience and maintain a loyal customer base. Disney? Not small either, but certainly a benchmark of creating a memorable customer experience.

So what?

That goes for government too.

I have had excellent service from the government with a few exceptions.

And I trust them far more than I trust a big multi-national corporation whose only concern is how much revenue they can wring out of me at the least cost to them.

Me and a friend transferred the title to a motorcycle back and forth a few times to get temp tags when I was a teen.

Every 5-6 years I get a call from the State asking abou the taxes they decided I owed them as they think it wasn't a 'gift'. Every time I explain this to them and they say 'oh, ok. No problem. We'll close this, forget about it.'

Then 5 or 6 years later.....

Funny but I keep thinking one of these days I'll get hauled in to the state tax authority. The huge difference between business and government is, government has the barrel of a gun.

Bullshit. The DMV didn't show up at your house with guns drawn.

Not the DMV - but if the state taxing authority takes the case, they certainly could - no bs neccesary. The law has the barrel of the gun behind it.

The direct deposits of my state retirement and my social security are always in my account right on time. If the pay date falls on a weekend or a Holiday it gets deposited early on the day before.

I had a private account with Nationwide that I set up to pay me on the first of the month. It never got deposited before the 5th, and was sometimes as late as the 10th if a Holiday or weekend was involved. I finally just got tired of it and took my money out of there and used it to pay off my mortgage. Should have done that it the first place. It was worth the hit I took on taxes.

The DMV is the one exception.

Government service at the DMV sucks the big one.
