No, of law. All issues of fact are decided by the court of original jurisdiction.

Sounds like you're excusing them to me.
They were a bunch of slave driving, Indian genociding motherfuckers is what they were.
They only reason they did so well wealth wise is because they stole all the land and natural resources from the Indians that had been good stewards of them for thousands of years and proceeded, with the help of black African slave labor, to exploit and decimate it within a handful of generations to their immense profit.
And I'm supposed to revere these Alpha Hotels as my "Founding Fathers"?
Fuck that shit.

Sure, but what do you think about them other than that?

OK, then show me the evidence that an anti-trust or similar law was drafted as an amendment to the US Constitution. We have had various acts passed into law, so please find me evidence that Jefferson wanted such an amendment.

The assertion was not that an "amendment was drafted," whatever exactly you mean by that, but that Jefferson wanted one. And he most certainly did, he wrote again and again of his belief that the people needed protection from the "pseudo-aristoi" (the rich and powerful) and from "monopolies." He objected to the absence of a Bill of Rights from the original constitution, and when such a bill was being considered, he repeatedly listed the particular rights he felt essential, and "freedom from monopolies" was repeatedly included.
The quotes can all be found in here: http://truth-out.org/opinion/item/37...te-aristocracy

You're trying to move the goalposts Mike. Mebbe you should go back to your favorite, 'I'm rubber and you're glue...' ?

Ike I agree, with a caveat, he was a product of his world. Excuse him (and many of his contemporaries)? No. But they did bring in a system that ended slavery and brought a great deal less suck to the world.

Revisionista much? Every time I hear about American slave owning land barons, otherwise known as "the founders", being products of their time, it generally causes me to gag. There was no shortage of thoughtful people of stature in Europe and the Americas at the time of the founding who saw not only slave trading, but slave holding as an abomination against the Christian god they were all (supposedly) committed to. Jefferson and his colleagues were well aware of this and purposefully chose to ignore it. Ignored it for financial reasons, and for their narcissistic power and control over lesser beings.
As far as what ended slavery, it had nothing to do with the system...the system was the Constitution and the Constitution was written and ratified purposefully with slavery in place. The system was massively flawed, and remains massively flawed. What ended slavery was the relentless pressure of abolitionists and other people of real conscience, and the catastrophe that was the American Civil War.
The end of American slavery had nothing to do with the personally convenient mutterings of Thomas Jefferson.
