VinylRob from AK played a Yusef album during AKFest 2012. That was the first time I ever heard of him. His music left quite an impression.

I cannot believe how good this LP sounds on my modest system...am taping some Steely Dan to some high bias tape for the cassette deck I have at work....

Some bands had impeccable standards when it came to recoding quality, Steely Dan, Pink Floyd and Supertramp come to mind.
I always liked The Rolling Stones music, but some of their albums sound truly awful recording quality wise.

I would almost say that Steeley Dan's production quality may have overshadowed the actual music...I know that sounds crazy but I am not a huge fan. The Stones wrote much better songs, and used distortion as an instrument, sometimes purposely recording through cassette decks (Jumpin Jack Flash, Street Fighting Man). I will take the Stones any day. However,
I have always thought the high production values of Let It Bleed and Sticky FIngers were a reason those are real favorites among fans.

Completely agree. I've almost gotten to the point of viewing Steely Dan as the Kenny G of rock & roll, notwithstanding the fact that I have nearly all of their albums. Nothing they've done comes remotely close to any of the four Stones' albums from Beggars Banquet to Exile on Main St.
