Hey religion, your misogyny is showing

An interesting article that shines the light on the patriarchal thread that is woven into the fabric of all religions.

Great article, and yes this belief system is prevalent in all religions. I am an atheist so I have no prejudices when it comes to God.

Being a woman your not surprised are you?

“It’s a Man’s, Man’s, Man’s World.” Still rings true today I'm sad to say. We men have done a ps poor job so far. I think it is time for the women to take over. Sure can't mess it up much more.

No, I'm not surprised. But, I don't believe that is because I'm a woman. The patriarchal aspect of religion is blatantly apparent and easy to recognize regardless of ones gender.

I liked the way this article juxtaposed current events with the historical background.

By the way, given the chance, I think women could make a pretty good mess of things too. 😄. Human error knows no bounds.

Any of you remember Robert Bly? I vividly remember a comment from Bly after the Clarence Thomas/Anita Hill Senate hearings.

Bly was obviously pissed when he stated that what the patriarchy has done for us is "...put a self-pitying, pathologically lying, porno freak on the Supreme Court."

No news here whatsoever, unfortunately. Infidel by Ayaan Hirsi Ali is an excellent book to gain insights into Islam and women, in Somalia anyway.

Fundy tribal Christianity in the USA isn't much fun either unless you're one of their blessed.

Why do you think Florence and I left the Church. It is a private club run by misogynists solely interested in ensuring the club's survival. All the talk of God and Jesus is just that - talk. They none of them are the least interested in practicing what Jesus taught. Heck, he even simplified the ten rules down to two and they still don't get it.

there is a lovely old Jewish saying; "God did not take woman from man's head that he should command her, neither did He take her from man's foot that she should be his slave, rather from his side that she should be close to his heart."

They needed to go to Mormonism to find something similar to Islam.

All churches are different.

I had this client one time. Beautiful young woman...it was distracting. Anyway, she grew up Catholic, and took up with the Mormons at some point. She came in for her session one day tearful and upset because she had come to realize she would probably never be "temple worthy". I commiserated and refrained from asking WTF temple worthy meant.
