I see this argument a lot. Drives me crazy. This isn't 85% of the world. This is America. We can do better.

I'm tired of hearing America can't. America can't provide affordable health care. America can't take care of people during difficult times. America can't afford educate it's children. America can't pay a reasonable wage. That's a load of BS. America can. America always has and always will. We have more intellectual capital than any nation on Earth, despite the war on education.

The American dream is still alive, thought it's under fire and on life support. But it's still there. And as is always the case, progress[n] will progress[v]. Things will move forward. And no number of false "patriots" screaming "America can't" will stop it.

Of course it's moving forward so far forwards it's left the shores of America. Good luck pricing labor out of the market, then how are you going to pay for all the entitlements.

The lack of available jobs would be simpel to overcome. Put a sever law that stops hiring of illegal aliens and stat deporting the millions that are here. Secure the border.
That will do nothing to alleviate the problem. The problem isn't illegal immigration nor does it have anything to do with the magical/mystical hand of market forces. The problem began with the men who ran large corporations deciding they didn't want to support the American middle class with high wages any longer. That started in the 1970s and it was a conscious decision driven purely by nothing more noble than personal ambition. In the '80s they found an ideology coming to power in the government, neo-conservatism that fit their dream of fucking the shit out of the American worker and duping him into thinking it is for his own good. A new breed of Republican, led by corporate Americas most successful professional soulless bullshitter, Ronald Reagan, was more than willing to help them accomplish this goal. And, BOY HOWDY was that SOB good at it. To keep it short, over the intervening years, they have eliminated millions of strong paying jobs in America, deliberately, because they are incentivized to do so in the promise of sweatshop labor provided by ruthless dictators in the third world. And when all you give two shits about is yourself; Hey why not?

It was never necessary, nor was it ever, at any point, beyond their control. That is the biggest lie of them all.

Hence the income disparity, the shrinking middle class and the economic ruin it will inevitably lead to.

These people should have never been idolized.

They are not "Great Americans" by any stretch of the imagination. They never gave a flying fuck about this country or it's people. Still don't. It's all about them.

Have a Great Memorial Day weekend, knowing your heroes couldn't care less about the veterans who sacrificed all for this once great country. They were regarded by your heroes as just poor trash used as human shields to protect the business and governing elite.......whether they realized it, or not.

Love,
Dave

It's easy to blame outsourcing, but the reality is the great jobs many remember from the 70s ended up putting out horrible product, from cars to steel.

Sounds like lazy, timid managers not having the balls to insist on quality work.
