I'm sure we'll be hearing all about what a terrible idea it is from the usual suspects, who would crow about strength and prowess amid images of attacking eagles clutching arrows and square-jawed Green Berets gritting their teeth, M-16s in hand.......

.....if we had a Republican President.

For my part, I dislike any military expansion. But, with the growth of Chinas defense industry, I reluctantly admit it may be prudent.
