There's cheaper but usually there's a reason why. Imports, stripped down, etc. I'm saying something like a Colt, S&W, Sig your going to spend some serious coin.

I'd rather spend on something I can afford to shoot as often as I like, and it doesn't hurt that I can do so safely in my yard. That's why I sprung for a well-used FWB 300S Mini .177 cal ex-German range mule. I can enjoy it anytime without obsessing over it's cosmetic cdx.

Mike, agreed, and I think he bought a pretty stripped out one, but I'm certain he said it was domestic. Next time I see him I'll ask again, he sure doesn't mind talking about it

I'm not a military weapon fan but was at the store picking up some target rounds for trap and noticed a box of Mosins he just got in. Thought of the movie "Enemy at the Gate" when I saw them. Very impressive for it's time. Might have to go back and take another look.

Guy that is somewhat a 'net expert on idler drive TTs in the town up the road is a fan of Mosin and uses that name as his sign-in at another forum. He has the Saskia TT under development.

Somebody please answer one very simple question for me;
Why is it so damned imperitive to have one?

Yeah, but why? What is the purpose?

I don't know why the government keeps going after the guns and magazine capacity.
The key is the ammunition and the materials used to reload. Make all of that prohibitively expensive and it doesn't matter what kind of gun you own, make, steal or whatever. You'll only be able to afford so much.
The guns are repairable and reusable. Ammunition? Not so much. Gun powder not at all.

AR-15 Dave? Dunno, there are other good options for home defense.

I would think the best for home defense would actually be a shotgun. Good stopping power, but in short range. Less likely to penetrate a wall and unintentionally kill an innocent.
The AR15, like a lot of the weapons out there is a adult toy. But, a deadly one. And, I can't help but believe the only reason most interested parties even want one is because of the controversy. There is a sort of "forbidden fruit" or "taboo" allure to it. Buying one is an act of defiance for the immature.
