Recently we had to send a State Comptroller to prison over the state pension
fund.
A very unethical and corrupt figure. Mr. Alan Hevesi.
A Jew, he used his powerful position to shake down Switzerland, Austria for over a billion dollars in Holocaust restitution.
Used state employees to look after his mother.
And finally had " Pay to Play' scheme with the state pension fund.
He got four years for this one.

I have no idea what this means. You'd take offense to what, as well?

Of course the tax payer has a right to bitch if they view the pension as outsize, out of control.

Or are they simply bitching because someone gets something that they don't? I think people should be pushing harder to accrue similar benefits to what others have, rather than tear others down. There is a reason why the powers that be would rather have us jealous of each other and demanding that the other guy is compensated less, rather than the tide lifting all boats.
Again; My response; "So, where do I apply?"

The problem is the dynamic in play in many cities and states, whereby politicians obligate future politicians/generations to pay outsize pensions while thereby keeping present-day wages/salaries low in an effort to keep their budgets in balance. They get to look like effective budget managers (in the short term) while hobbling future leaders/taxpayers.

And especially when they see such pension as a reward for political support.

At the end of the day a better paid pensioner is a benefit to society rather than a liability.
The anger results from the private sector failing on pensions whle the less-well paid government workers in the end came out on top.
Knock on wood I probably will be ok until I die...at least I will have health care and enough to eat and some old stereos. I did not plan it like that though. Anyone in the Navy in the 80s would have never believed it would be one of the better jobs in the 2010s.
What I mean by that is a job with actual benefits like health care, paid time off, and a pension plan.
