#2, and #4 with COL/income figured in.
When we get some oil flowing again in this state, we'll take #1

I wonder how low state taxes correlates to being a moocher red state that takes more than it gives. Alaska anyone?

The important correlation to me is the one cited in the study. My kids have a better chance of success here. I'd move back to California if that's where my family could thrive.

HMMM many of the red states with low taxes get much money back from the Federal Government...Alaska is a prime example
all the bagger states hate Uncle Sugar but are sucking on the teat...

Real Americans can find a way to "thrive" anywhere.
In fact, I refer you to this map that shows state politics and tax levels don't seem to matter much;
http://www.businessinsider.com/the-w...-state-2013-11
And, this one, that shows the two most liberal states also generate more highly successful individuals than any other state in the union:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...f_billionaires
If I were you, I'd get my kids OUT of Alaska. It's also neck-n-neck with another red state, Wyoming, as the nations leader in SAD cases and suicide rate;
http://www.afsp.org/understanding-su...ts-and-figures
Have a great day!
Dave
