It's a case of preferring "we" be the tyrant rather than "they". I've no use for either Sharia Law, nor Christian Theocracy. I'd rather they BOTH piss off.

to say Hitler was not elected to the Reichstag would be like saying Cameron is not the Prime Minister of England. Both men made coalition governments via elections to a unicameral (not counting the House of Lords) legislature. As head of a significant portion of the Reichstag Hitler was able to convince Hindenberg to select him as Chancellor. The German constitution at the time gave Hindenburg much power.
Hindenburg also was the originator of the Lebenstraum idea according to wikipedia.

Are you saying that Prime Minister Cameron is the new Hitler?

As a side note; I love how the GOP has long lamented the decline of "family values" and pandered to evangelicals and other religious groups promising them a return to "Christian principles", some rightwing zealots even proclaiming America a "Christian Nation".
Seeing as how the Republican Party is a component of local, state and federal government entities across the nation I fail to see how they can deliver on any hint or promise of Theocracy without committing some very egregious 1st Amendment violations or create a huge, invasive government way beyond the worst nightmare of our most paranoid teabagger.
As I am sure we will see from the recent goings on in Arizona, it just can't fly.

I don't know what to do about it, it's an observation. Why do you always assume and dive right into the GOP and Christians kind of narrow don't you think?

I think my neighbors dog is Hitler reincarnated. He has been hanging around the beer halls, lately, talking lots of smack.

No, I think it's merely an observation.

I do agree with Ice though, he never would've been made Chancellor without his parties showing in general elections. In a very real way he was elected.
My SO knew an old lady when she was young, a German immigrant, who believed Hitler was a great man and the bad stuff was lies. There's a vid on Netflix now that has his first inaugural speech on it with English subtitles. He's very good. Evil, but good

however he is an example of person obtaining the Prime Minister position without holding a majority of seats in his legislature. Hitler, Schleicher and Van Papen were members of their legislature and were fighting it out to determine who would be Chancellor....none had a majority. We know who won.
