How's the weather over there in Missouri? It's been hotter'n than Hades here. We candy assed lotus eaters out here in Californie can't take more than 90 degrees before we start wilting. I need to pry open my wallet and get some AC installed here. Friggin' pissant HOA here has a rule against window AC units.

Most of the summer, 85 degrees during the day, tops.

Last week, 95-97 degrees, kinda sucked as I was forced to go and work in it. Hell, I'm office help. Or THE office help.

Supposed to be close to 90 later in the week. No big deal, summer is almost over.

BTW, I think a spider bit me. Have a big, red circle under my ribs, about the size of a quarter, with a dark circle around it, and with something which resembles a pimple in the middle.

Never had a wound like this before.

I hate bugs, does that make me a bigot?

Only at the state fair in Sedalia, bro. Somehow, you don't strike me as the type who would stick a broom up his ass and dare a 1200lb. bull to stomp you into the dirt, Charlie...

Keep an eye on that bite. If it was a Brown Recluse that bit you, the flesh in that circle will melt away and you'll be needing a doctor's tender mercies. Antibiotics and packing the hole with guaze is how they treat ya. If it gets worse? Don't fuck around, see a doc.

Don't think it's gonna get any worse.

Besides, I gotta die of something.

So is it cheating to mention Whiskey Here? Broke open a bottle of Evan Williams Single Barrel with the boys tonight.

Regards,

Funny you should mention whiskey, just fixed a little glass of Old Weller 107. Gotta have a couple icecubes to open it up as they say. I haven't had the EW Single Barrel yet.

I've yet to pull the cork on my jug of Bulleit Rye. Maybe Friday.

Is that what they call those over there?

I got an early valentines' day present I'll be enjoying tonight.

D.O.R.I.S. THE DESTROYER Double Oatmeal Imperial Stout.

http://www.hoppinfrog.com/brewery

I had a guy tell me a few weeks ago 'Hopping Frog makes the BEST stout. It's really expensive though.' So I mentioned it to the SO.

And, it is. This bottle was $15! I'll report back.

Pete

It's.... very good! It's stout so I'll compare it to Guinness. Darker still, and incredibly thick, syrupy, almost no foam at all. Salty at first but absolutely no bitter aftertaste. For a strong beer (10+%) it didn't taste kerosene-y at all.

Now I'm spoiled. I'll no longer be able to drink such plebian beer as Sam Adams or Goose Island.
