I don't know.

I don't recall it being considered a bad thing when I was young and paying for the old.

I really do worry about what these assholes are doing to my people. Bunch of damn Baboons.

Our neighbours to the north have everyone get the Old Age Pension without a means test, currently close to $700 per month and if that is al you have they tack on another $650. About the time I left they instituted a Canada Pension Plan, much like SSI here because the people who built all the schools and roads through the depression did not have a lot left to put in the bank.

During my first marriage her mother lived with us and her bank account was quite good. I was lucky in that I worked for Bell and they have honoured my pension for 30 years so far and it is 199% funded, even with people like me driving the actuaries nuts.

Such policies are available through AARP for as low as $180/month per person, or as much as $338/month per person. So, we'd need to know more (and no, I'm not asking) about the content of your policy, and why you're choosing to pay more for coverage when other options are available.

If its not a Medicare supplemental policy, and you're choosing to buy an individual policy with full coverage, $833 per month is actually a pretty competitive rate. That rate is actually competitive with the rates you'll find on Maryland's health insurance exchange, though is possible that some of the plans on the exchange will have fewer docs and hospitals participating.
Yes Mike but the same coverage only cost me $54 per month for the whole family up north. I will admit that I have yet to see a bill from any doctor.

$54/month plus how much per year in taxes that flow to the provincial health system?

Yeah, if we want national health care, we gotta pay for it. Go figure.

But I'd bet my right arm that what ever is paid in taxes for national health care up front is a whole lot less than what we are currently paying for those who are not insured or underinsured.

Either way, we gotta pay.

Go figure indeed! I guess some republicants are just knuckleheaded that way. They would rather kick 20% to the healthcare profiteers and let the poor go pound sand.

Exactly... Complaining about what it might cost them for something they already pay an outrageous amount for. That they can't see the long term savings is partisan blindness

I would be so happy if they came up with single payer on their own. What the hell, let 'em run around pounding on their chests, hootin' and hollerin' about how they came up with a better plan... Let their inner Obama Derangement Syndrome run wild. It's covered under Obamacare.
