the Shah had been established as the primary leader in the 1950s by the USA
and the Iranians were sick of his secret police by the time of the Revolution. We did not lose Iran or China they were not ours to lose.
well he was installed in the 40s but the CIA and Kermit Roosevelt forced out a moderate Prime Minister who wanted to nationalize the oil industry for the Iranians ...so the Shah was basically a lackey for the foreign oil companies and the USA...and seen that way
