the Shah had been established as the primary leader in the 1950s by the USA

and the Iranians were sick of his secret police by the time of the Revolution. We did not lose Iran or China they were not ours to lose.

well he was installed in the 40s but the CIA and Kermit Roosevelt forced out a moderate Prime Minister who wanted to nationalize the oil industry for the Iranians ...so the Shah was basically a lackey for the foreign oil companies and the USA...and seen that way

Interestingly, the Shah had the 5th most powerful military in the world. All US weapons, including the only foreign sale of the of the F-14 Tomcat. I'm sure all those foreign military sales had nothing to do with why he was supported so enthusiastically.

yes the money went back to the military industrial complex...and where ever those jets were assembled billions of dollars were pumped into our economy...more swimming pools mortgages and corvettes.


And North America including Canada was made safe.

Nor, in this way, I certainly didn't paint Canada in a different light in this regard.

Though there is an interesting historical footnote here about how the US attacked the Canadian dollar in the early 60's, and by doing so, effectively wiped out our independent military industrial complex. We became an economic US protectorate at that time.
