The new rules also won’t allow for as much discrimination based on age or gender. The flip side of that, of course, is that many will suddenly find their health insurance is much cheaper, or they will find that, for the first time, they’re not turned away when they try to buy health insurance.
That's why the law is expected to insure almost 25 million people in the first decade: It makes health insurance affordable and accessible to millions who couldn't get it before. To judge it from a baseline that leaves them out -- a baseline that asks only what the wealthy and healthy will pay and ignores the benefits to the poor, the sick, the old, and women -- well, that is a bit shocking." The problem, Bob, is that these "True Patriots" who believe America is a "Christian nation" couldn't give a shit less about fellow Americans who can't afford their own. You know, just like Jesus wouldn't give a shit about the poor.

Always remember the definition from "The Party is Over" by Mike Lofgren

"True Patriot; Someone who loves America more than he loves the people who live here."

Yes, and those subsidies phase out as income rises towards $94K, and they also are limited based on the relative richness of the insurance product purchased on the exchange. So, between the increased premiums, and the subsidy phase outs, many of these folks have to pay more for a product they may not want or need. Lovely.

This ain't about Jesus caring for the poor. This is about giving to Ceasar what is Ceasar's. Exhibit 4: Another contrast between Obamacare and Romneycare are the plethora of new taxes:

Basically, it's about wealth distribution. My costs rise to cover someone else.

Oh well.

BTW, Mike. How do you interpret; "Render unto Caesar that which belongs to Caesar. Render unto God that which belongs to God."?

To my mind it means following Gods will is more important than money.

Anyone else have any input for this?

Dave

You do realize that the overwhelming voting class in America does not make anywhere near $100,000 per annum, right? You've been out voted, get over yourselves. I have two words for the well to do having to pay a little more of their disposable income, 'tough titty'.

You could always pay cash or you could support a cheaper system, (single payer) if you really cared about being a leaner and meaner capitalist.

Why would anyone who makes over $94k need an exemption?

For the most part, people making $100K have employer-provided health care anyway.
