I said nothing of banishment. OTOH, I think it's perfectly OK, even desirable in a pluralistic, civilized society, to shun/criticitize @ssholes who parade around with flags carried by those who fought (and lost, BTW) fighting to perpetuate slavery. Similarly, I reserve the right to criticize @ssholes who might display a Nazi flag in a Jewish community. It just ain't cricket.
For the record, my great-grandfather was a Confederate general (Richard Channing Jones).

OK.
BTW, one of my great uncles was a Union captain who was killed trying to arrest a guerrilla. I kind of figure that the Civil War is just water under the bridge...especially after 150 yrs.

I tend to think some people have attitudes they bury, because they know it's shameful. Such dirty little nuggets often show when they think no one is listening or no one cares. Or, when you push them until they lose control of their tongues.

You forgot about me did ya?
on a very serious note, if you want to fly a flag that invokes such horrific imagery you had better be prepared to deal with the back lash which needs to challenge such displays.
