I sure hope so. I'm not ready to believe that the average voter is paying more than cursory bit of attention to all of this crap. The news whores like CNN, ABC and CBS are bending over backwards to appear non-partisan.

Actually I would not be too optimistic....
I think the nightmare scenario is that the Tea Party caves to the Koch Brothers
and raise the debt limit because they do not want interest rates to rise and the value of their billions decline....money is their god. And of course no one wants that to happen.
But the Tea Party in the Republican Party continue not to fund the government way into 2014, causing havoc and another recession.

I think trying to actively sabotage your economy is anti-American by the way.

A recession isn't good for the Kochs either. I expect there is non-public negotiation going on. It's going to be a tricky endgame, though. The TP people need a face-saving payoff, but what?

Personally, I would prefer to see total humiliation.

A recession does not hurt them. If they can spend millions on funding the Tea Party they probably can handle a downturn on the economy with nary a blink of an eye. They got theirs already. They can live off of carried interest.

If my use of the term Anti-American offended anyone I am sorry. I should have not wrote that. Do not take it personal.

You're being logical. They could live off selling their cars and other odd bits for the rest of their life. But these guys identify with their balance sheet. They hate the idea of big hits from income and stock price depreciation in a recession, even as they hate paying taxes.
Well, maybe not quite that much....

I think at their level they are bored...sort of like dilettantes who have much time and money. I am sure they are interested in their financial bottom lines....but to throw money around like they do indicates they want power more than money.
The debt ceiling has worried them.
Like I said the real danger is a debt limit agreement but not an end to the shutdown.
Yeah maybe we the House back...but the damage to our nation would be severe.

Unfortuately, Bob the average American voter is watching current events and thinking, "Duh, lookie, Obama can't even set up a website! Te he he........".
The newswhores are riding the fence to see who comes out on top in this mess, so they know who to suck up to.

However the Dems are far richer than the GOP in Congress. Doesn't really fit the narrative very well.
