They're neither ..... yet, though the same sort of contrived grievances animate them. Moreover, I have no problem envisioning the 'Baggers I've met as being the same type who would have pushed themselves to front of the Nuremburg rallies - easily worked into a full froth by a blowhard demagogue, be it Limbaugh, Cruz or their kindred spirit, Adolph.

I do not think the Baggers are equivalent to the Nazis or Stalinists. However, the fear being generated by the purity being required by a minority of the minority Republican party has sort of the same trappings that early fascists parties demonstrated toward perceived "waverers" or "anti-revolutionaries." I think that is what Finnbow is sort of pointing to.

Plus using the House power over the debt as a weapon to destroy a fragile economy because of opposition to an actual statute...the ACA....does have a sort of parallel with Hitler using the democratic institutions of the Weimar Republic to destroy the system from within. I do not think that is a strong statement.

That is why Obama should not at all negotiate or cave in. If the Republicans want to end Obamacare they should elect a Republican President in 2016.

Not all, but for many years, even decades, it had the reputation of having the best public schools in the nation. They're still very good, but a number of places have caught up (around here, Howard Co., MD, and Fairfax Co., VA, for example).

My three kids all graduated from MoCo high schools with about 25 advanced placement credits each and scholarship offers to a number of engineering schools. All remarked at how much better prepared they were than their contemporaries, even those who went to pricey private schools.

Are the tea party freaks really that evil? Heilige Scheisse... I hardly can believe that.

The people here who truly meet the Nazi criminal comparison are the racist 'white nationalist' types, They are the sorts the Nazi's recruited as Brownshirt thugs. If the Tea Party started doing much of that sort of thing, they would shoot way up on the Nazi scale.

A main comparison that does exist is to the Nazi methods of disruption and subversion while they were a minority party in the Reischstag. I think the TPs budget-extortion tactics compare quite closely in spirit.

They have their own media (Fox/Talk Radio vs. Völkischer Beobachter).

They've been fed a message of resentment and somehow believe we would be better off if we somehow turned back the clock to some halcyon days that never actually existed. They feel put upon by those who don't share the same heritage (Hispanics, gays and blacks vs. Germany's Jews) and that violence may be the answer to their plight (i.e., 2nd Amendment solutions). They used scorched earth intimidation tactics without realizing the long-term damage does to the country and have been supported by the industrialists in their respective countries as a hedge against perceived threats of soci@lism/communism.

Once you discard these similarities, my analogy falls apart.
Oh my.

That was AWESOME.

I'm totally stealing it.

A lot of stuff, poohhh.. I try to summerize a bit.

The tea party freaks are as intellectual as snails, but some of them are very intelligent and wealthy, which makes them influential and therefore dangerous. They use all the freedom and rights of a democracy (free speech and so on) to push through all those anti democratic facist characteristics that are typical for Germany 1933-1945: Intolerance > xenophobia/antisemitism/racism, bigotry, megalomania etc.

Now it is the purpose to fight against those sick subjects with democratic means. I hope so much that the rational political America will succeed.

There is one thing that makes me shudder. There was this amazing ku klux slut S. P. some years ago and she got a lot of encouragement then, as far as I remember, also from the more "moderate" republican popualation. She is a master of agitation. I NEVER want to see a Joseph Goebbels again, not even a contemporary female American one.

But currently there is no one amongst the republicans with such enormous agitation skills, right?

I just listened to a report about Chaplain Black in "SWR3", a German FM radio channel.

Oh my, this man has such a nice voice, and his appeal (concerning the shutdown) to reason was totally impressive. I am excited about how he expressed the fatality of the situation for the citizens.

Here they are - the wonderful amazing Americans: Chaplain Black, Secretary of State Kerry... and for sure millions in the streets of America.
