Where did you read that. If anything a new fight has begun on the budget ceiling.

Which then means that when Congress instituted the Debt Ceiling in 1917 it was un-constitutional from the git go.

Just wait until the markets open tomorrow. They're already jittery. Boehner is a goddamn liar when he says they don't have to votes in the House to re-open the government.

Why is the national media still giving Cruz airtime?

I just read this one a while ago.

Quote:
RICHMOND, Va.— That was awkward.

In the clearest sign yet of the potent effect of the government shutdown on the Virginia governor’s race, Republican Ken Cuccinelli avoided being photographed with Ted Cruz at a gala they headlined here Saturday night—even leaving before the Texas senator rose to speak.
Backstage, a source said, Cuccinelli urged Cruz to work with Democrats to end the federal shutdown. But he did not make that point, or even acknowledge Cruz, in short public comments to some 1,100 social conservatives.

Cruz has become the face of GOP intransigence, and the conservative attorney general’s effort to distance himself from congressional Republicans reflects how damaging Cuccinelli realizes a prolonged shutdown may be for his campaign.

For his part, Cruz heaped praise on his “friend” Cuccinelli and argued passionately in a 54-minute speech that their party can still win the messaging fight over the shutdown if the people just speak out loudly enough.

For some reason this article gave me a good chuckle.

Cuccinelli was a 'Bagger hero even before Cruz as he was the first state AG to sue against Obamacare. They're two peas in one rotten pod.

From State of the Union interview on CNN this morning it was obvious that the echo chamber Ted Cruz listens to stops at both of his eardrums.

What can I say?

Last nite I read a clip where Boehner was going to suspend the Hastert rule if necessary in order to pass the budget, and today I'm reading that he has not yet begun to fight.

Guess I may as well just give up on reading anything and wait and see what happens.

I think if Obama threatens to use the 14th Amendment the Republicans might cave.
Using that, and if it survived a court challenge, would decimate Congressional power vis-a-vis the debt ceiling. It would be akin to the power they lost on foreign policy in the last 50 years or so.

Obama should not budge.

Agreed. This gaggle of baggers can shove it up their ass sideways with a twist. This is a constiutional crisis that must be put down, otherwise we will have no funtional government for the foreseeable future. I suspect that this is exactly what the 'baggers want. Just listen to Bachman crow.
