Here are some objective measurements showing the US at number 13 in the world with over half of those above us being in Northern Europe. Having lived for a dozen years in Germany, I liked it very much and better than the US in a number of ways (and not as well in others). Above all, I certainly didn't feel any lack of "freedom." To the contrary, the freedom from the threat of crime everywhere in Germany (including downtown in the major cities) was quite refreshing indeed when compared to the US.

So, the people of Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Holland, Belgium, France and Germany aren't free?

That's just flat out inaccurate. How do you claim that? Most of Europe has a good deal of Socialism in their policy and political make up and they're doing pretty well.
As a man who makes his living (at least part of it) as a wordsmith I should be able to say this the way I mean it, but I fear I will fail. So with that warning- your comment really seems to demonstrate what so many from other countries think about Americans. We do seem to be somewhat insular in our experience.

Of course not. Only America is free and we're working on bombing the rest of the world into freedom as fast as we can.

The beauty of America is you are so free you can leave if you dont like it and I invite many to take full advantage of this freedom we hold dear. I fully respect and encourage your choice to leave if you think others do it better than the United States.

Seriously? "If you don't like it, you can leave"? This is the best you can come up with? You really are stuck in 11th grade aren't you? Yelling threats across the playground. You gonna take my lunch money too?
I have no interest in leaving. The majority of Americans who voted for Obama and voted Democratic majorities in the House and Senate have spoken and one seat in one state doesn't change that. And guess what- if you don't like it, you can leave.

TD with all due respect you would not recognize a socialist if one bit you on the arse.
Oh and Eddie, don't let grasshopper get to you, he's doing the best he can.

You had better take a look at the GDP of the red states before you start your Palin "real American's" or "you can leave" shit. You have a disproportional representation compared to the economical mighty blue states that keeps dragging our country to the past.
The ultimate social state Alaska but these morons run around with guns pounding their chests about there rugged self reliance. Idiots.
Feel free to take a bow yourself.
The next time you ask someone to leave just remember there economic might goes with them.

They want to believe
And those socialist paradises in Europe have their national security paid for by the evil USA - we do their bombing for them.

Couldn't find anything newer, but know most crime is less in the US. NYC is one of the safest large cities in the world.
