Canadians come to the US for medical treatment of particular ailments for which there are not sufficient numbers to justify treatment in Canada. They do so at the expense of the Canadian system. This canard won't fly, someone in another group linked to a wiki article about sending a woman to an Oregon hospital as proof that Canadians prefer U.S. healthcare. The facts were that she was suffering a rare pregnancy condition for which there was only a couple of beds at the Vancouver hospital, she was flow to the Oregon hospital on a chartered plane at a cost of $5000 paid for by the government.
As to doctors leaving Canada to practice here it is quite simple, U.S. doctors are overpaid so the answer is simple greed.
If the Single Payer system is so bad why do Canadians live longer than Americans ? Why is the rate of child deaths so much higher here? Why do far fewer Canadians suffer heart attacks?
For a lousy system it has superior results to ours and Canada's standing in any measure of health is higher that ours.
