Problem is that Finn is right, this shit has spread all over the northern states, too and black market pistols are easily available to anyone with an axe to grind and a couple of c notes. Used to be that assholes settled their differences in the ring, now everybody wants to shoot it out like some bullcrap western movie.
I'm all for a beer or bourbon summit and if Chas wants to put on the gloves? What the hell, I'm only game for a round these days, if even that. I smoke and drink and would rather tell lies about the one that got away.

Don't mind my feeble attempts at snarky humor, bud. I'm half lit and probably overly impressed at my lame attempts Sorry. Let's argue about tubes, I think those limey Mullards are the cats meow.

Never owned any real deal Mullards. Have some Rat Shack 12AX7 gold pins which are supposed to be Jap Mullards...they are bright.
Besides, what makes you think that I've been drinking ice water every since I mowed the yard?

Definitely worth a try, Chas. I like 'em a lot even compared to Telefunkens in my Maggotbox 175. I would only roll the AX7s, I'm not all that convinced that the power tubes make a helluva lot of difference as long as they're good.

I have so real Mullard 6EU7s and as set of GEs for my Maggie. I actually like the GEs a little bit better.

Mullards are a bit dark in most aplications I've found. This works out well if you have a "bright" amp or pre.....
I like em in some spots and prefer other in other spots.....Suppose we need to work on getting a few out to Bugtussel.....
BTW, nice shootin iron.....

Ain't much of a shootin' iron.
Midway was closing them out for cheap a few years ago. Think it cost me something like $110 shipped to my door...tax included. Couldn't turn it down at that price.
Never fired it, don't even have what I need to do so. Probably take two hours to load and clean it, 15 seconds to fire it. It's a Pietta, seems to be a decent pop gun...especially for a C note.
Maybe I should buy some Mullards, I wouldn't mind toning down the mids on these Quartets. I guess titanium diaphragms are out of the question now...don't even know if I could buy them from Klipsch.
Or maybe I should just break down and have my plate amp rebuilt for the fourth time. Then go back to the Hornshoppes.
Those Dayton plate amps aren't very dependable.

Which do you like better, Buffalo Trace or the Larceny?
I'm tempted to get a bottle of the Buffalo Trace, as Finn recommends it.
And no doubt he's a man of superior tastes...he even goes all of the way to Germany to drink hot beer!!!

I'm liking Larceny despite the somewhat dubious source of the recommendation, old man. Buffalo Trace has a bit of a spicey/sweetish taste and a cool looking label but the jury is still out. It works for doctoring up my wife's coffee.
