What exactly did the young black man do to create the situation, in your opinion?

To the best of my understanding, Zimmerman had something to do with the neighborhood watch...I believe he's been referred to as a "commander"...whatever that is.
And also, to the best of my understanding, there had been several burglaries in the neighborhood, perhaps some other crimes as well.
Once again, to the best of my understanding, Zimmerman thought Martin was acting in a suspicious nature, and left his vehicle to ascertain Martin's whereabouts while he was speaking to 9-11. He had not made contact with Martin whenever he was returning to his vehicle.
At this point he was approached by Martin, who asked Zimmerman if he had a problem, Zimmerman replied no, after which Martin said, "Now you do" and began assaulting Zimmerman.
Zimmerman had broken no laws, had not engaged Martin, and was leaving the scene whenever Martin engaged him.
Now all of this is to the best of my knowledge.
Perhaps Zimmerman should have never left his vehicle. Then again, Martin certainly could have handled the situation better. Physically assaulting someone isn't conducive to opening a dialogue.
Zimmerman had broken no laws. While being a member of a neighborhood watch may make you a pain in the ass, it's not illegal.
And while no one likes to answer to some nosey rinky dink, you can't just assault them. And continue to assault them.
That is against the law.
Now these are simply the conclusions I have drawn. And I could very well be wrong. I was not there.
And I certainly don't mind if someone disagrees with me. I would just as soon not be ridiculed and insulted for offering a different opinion, but if anyone considers that type of behavior to somehow pass for a rational argument, feel free to do so.
I've grown accustomed to boorish behavior, and sometimes engage in it myself.
Since you asked, there it is.
