Supreme Rules Against Arizona invalidating extra voter ID requirements

States may not require additional proof of citizenship on federal forms designed to streamline voter-registration procedures, the Supreme Court ruled Monday.

The court rejected a requirement passed by Arizona voters in 2004 that potential voters supply proof of eligibility beyond an applicant’s oath on the federal form that he or she is a citizen.

The court ruled 7 to 2 that the National Voter Registration Act of 1993 trumps Arizona’s Proposition 200.

The federal law “precludes Arizona from requiring a federal form applicant to submit information beyond that required by the form itself,” Justice Antonin Scalia wrote for the majority.

The Supreme Court has a lot of nerve making it hard for Arizona folks to behave like racists. Just who does the Supreme Court think they are!!

Now it seems that the GOP may have to appeal to minorities rather than try to disenfranchise them. Could be tough.

What about the evil tide of voter fraud that is just sweeping across the nation like a vast tidal wave? OH...yeah nevermind....

Seriously though why does it take 5 hours to vote in Florida? That bullshit needs to be taken care of also. Disgraceful.

You would think with all the technology we have that they would come up with some form of secure internet voting, but then I guess the NSA would know who votes for which candidates.

Not very likely since both parties would effectively cede control of the voting process.

Note that they left AZ a loophole by stating that they could petition the Feds to add a citizenship requirement to the Fed form.
