Not trying to be mean, just trying to convey what I'm thinking.

Dave
remember when you joined the Navy?
Remember when the commissary was there for the really low paid military folks?
that it was a perk for the otherwise underpaid US military?

and now some civilians are "upset" for lack of a better word that they still exist....
I did not say you owe me anything...I just linked to an article about the commissary.
It is not my fault is it that the military has become a good job?

Oh, alright, nevermind. Geez. Just don't lose sight of who pays for it and why.

You know you are under the assumption that if the MIC went away your life would get better. If it would I would not be against it.

I do not think it is a zero sum game...less for the MIC more for the welfare of the citizens of the US. It would be less government spending, less contracts for private businesses, less consumer demand. Less useless drones employed. Less tax revenue.
More unemployment.

It would not be single payer and more bullet trains. Fuck they are gutting meals on wheels...

I can see your points.

Went away? Zero sum game? Single payer and bullet trains? WTF is all of that?

You have missed the point completely.

Maybe if you had never served in the military and/or spent more time outside the government service bubble, you'd get it.

The people who pay for it all are losing ground. Working harder for less and less all the time, or not working at all. Where do you think the money to pay for all of that shit comes from? Do you think the military is paying for itself? The money fairies drop sacks of cash on congress? No. It comes from all of those Walmart wage slaves, their asshole bosses and all the rest of us nail pounding and grease monkey schleps out here, who already work all our lives to end up with nothing.

The military, just like the rest of the damn government is supposed to work for the people. Not the other way around.

Good Lawd, now you have me sounding like a friggin' Republican.

Dave
