I'm sure some legislation will stop it.

Finn - doesn't look like anything special for a barrel. Looks like the whole thing is plastic.
Good. Hopefully they can kill any such efforts in the future.

In the bolded;

And most likely a short life span POS.

Oh, come on. Do nothing? You don't see the danger in this? WTF? I know you're not stupid.

These printers are expensive and rare. But, you know that won't last long. Anyone......ANYONE just printing out guns that can pass through metal detectors?

So how in the hell could something like this be anything but bad?

How on earth do you prevent it?

Technology is neither good nor evil. But it can sure upset the applecart and the cat's already out the bag. We live in interesting times.

Insert saying here

How on earth do you prevent it, or at least curtail it to a degree, by not trying?

If guns were more restricted or banned there would always be a way to build
them. Ban the printers? build a mold and melt some plastic probably.
When I was about seven and my red ryder jammed up and quit working I
found a small pipe and some M 40's firecrackers that would fit tight in the
back of the pipe. Roll a marble down the barrel, light the fuse and aim.
It would shoot through a piece of plywood. Took a few squirrels with it then
ran out of firecrackers. I think they got banned along with the M 80's
and cherry bombs.

I'm glad you ran out cause that type of gun will blow up in your face. One of my older brothers made a zip gun out of wood and a short piece of pipe that almost took his ear off. I'll bet anyone with a drill press could do better, myself included.

A zipgun that can pass undetected through a metal detector is another kettle of fish. Those that make or own one need a good and long time out. 10 years in the pen ought to cool their jets. That punk who posted up the program to easily make one is irresponsible and endangering public safety.
