I'm tired of being oppressed by the man.

I agree bh. Years ago I read a very old book of English middle schoolish stories of their heros, one was 'the Great White Pasha'. In it they mention, when he was killed, they cut off his head, 'as was their custom'.

The breadth of Islamic murder occurs not because of Israel or a nebulous perceived external threat, but because fundamentally Islam is violent and has been since its founding.
And Christianity hasn't been? FWIW, there have been upwards of 150,000 firearms deaths in our "Christian nation" since 9-11 and well over 100,000 innocent civilian deaths in Iraq since we wrongly invaded. In the eyes of most of the rest of the world, we don't have the moral high ground to lecture about other cultures being violent, particularly when we refuse to do anything about our military adventurism and gun laws responsible for much of the mayhem.

I'm not an apologist for militant Islam, but a little perspective is in order. There are numerous Muslim nations where you infinitely safer on the streets than you are here. I'm vacationing in one this May (Turkey). I'll be going to Israel and Jordan in November and probably Morocco again next year. No worries here.

Having the Shrub and his cronies characterizing his bullshit war on terror as a crusade certainly didn't help matters. Muslims have a well founded fear of that term going back to when christian crusaders were boiling muslim kids on the walls of Jerusalem, several centuries ago.

Here's another source for ya, JB. Maybe this one will be more palatable than the Washington Post. You really should stop drinkin' that Jimson weed tea, it's got strychnine and arsenic in it.

One caould have predicted that the press would say it was George Bush's fault, but I thought the dust would settle a bit before they'd make such an inference.

Who said anything about the bombings being Bush's fault? I believe that all the armchair quarterbacking and enemy combatant bullshit from the GOP is intended to lessen the public's appreciation for the outstanding job done by law enforcement (Federal, state and local) in Boston (and by extension the Obama administration (deserved or not). The GOP is seeing its (undeserved) reputation of being the party of national security being frittered away by Obama's relatively competent management of national security (when compared to Bush, anyway).
