FDA changes rules to make the morning after pill available and out on the shelves. Age restriction is 15 years.

I think you're living in a dream world if you think you can tell a fifteen year old anything, Mike. Alternatively, you've had a very sheltered life. How did that happen in Detroit of all places?

More on the history of this form of contraception. Like it or not, some teenagers will have sex when puberty hits them. Why turn it into something tragic?

Of course the religious nuts have completely forgotten about rape and incest. If it was her father that got her pregnant he is hardly the one to ask for permission.

You're right, Bob. Why set any limits at all for kids? A 15 year old boy or girl has all of the life experience and perspective they need to make sound decisions about anything: from who they might choose to associate with, to whether or not to get their asses out of bed to go to school, or even go to school at all, to who having sex. They're not going to listen to their stupid patents anyway. So let's just turn 'em loose.

I've got news for you Bob. I've worked with a lot of screwed up teens who have told me that if some adult - parent, teacher, aunt, uncle, whatever - would have cared enough to intervene in their lives, their screwed up lives might have turned out a lot different. Sometimes the defiant behavior is just a kid's way of trying to find out if anyone cares.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that we turn kids loose at 15, or at any 'teen age. Nor is the availabilty of Plan B likely to suddenly start a rash of teen sexual escapades. To begin with (knowing how drug companies think) it is likely to be a damn sight more expensive than a condom and they are no longer hidden behind the counter or had you not noticed?
But there will still be cases of non-consensual sex, or have you also not been reading the papers and the news about sexting. It should hopefully reduce the number of abortions.
We support Covenant House where they look after runaways in hope the Sisters will find them before the predators do. We do this for very personal reasons, my wife left home at 12:01 AM on her eighteenth birthday - children do not run away from happy homes.
I am sorry if this comes to you all as a shock but we do not live in a "one size fits all" society. When children are abused by the very people who should love them they will turn in desperation to anyone who offers affection, even if it is merely an act on that person's part just to get what they want.
