Watching the Eagles history on the TV. Hearing Glenn characterize their music as a running commentary of my generation struck me as a bit arrogant at first. Then I realized he was absolutely right. Was it pop music? Yeah but it is mine... and a whole lot of others it appears.
So was that 14 year year interlude. Who can forget Glenn's 'Smuggler's Blues' or all of Don Henley's intervening work? I went to see the 'Hell Freeze's Over' concert and even bought one of those T shirts. "It's all about the music, that's all it's ever been about." Don Henley.

Atlantic Jazz Gallery
Schoefield and Matheny - I can See Your House from Here.

The more I listen to the old Utah speakers, the more I am sold on the benefit of recapping speaker with polyproplene caps. On some of these pieces, I feel like I could reach out and grab the cymbal or spill a drink on the piano player.

Regards,

D-Ray

I sure liked them back in their heyday and still have a number of their LP's. I probably haven't listened to one in over 25 years though. I may have to interrupt this pause with a spin of Desperado.

Right now I'm spinning Stevie Wonder's Songs in the Key of Life - a great album.

That is funny. I think this is the first time you have liked something I didn't musically.

In fact, I was upset with Joe Walsh when he wasted his time with the Eagles!

Seeing as you are spinning Stevie Wonder, all it right with the world again.

There's a reason I haven't spun them up for over 25 years. Come to think of it, I probably haven't played an Eagles album since about 1980.

I still have a couple of their records in the stack though that I bought nearly 40 years ago. I may spin one up to see if I can do it without jamming pencils in my ears.

Well I listened to Deperado. It had a few nice moments, but I probably won't play it again for at least a decade or two.

Spinning now - Roy Buchanan/Second Album.

One of several very fine DC guitarists (along with Link Wray, Danny Gatton, Nils Lofgren and Jorma Kaukonen).

For Noonereal - Rocky Mountain Way by Joe Walsh

I hear ya about those Eagles, there was a funny in that show where some music critic accused them of "loitering on stage".

I liked Linda Ronstadt's cover much more than the Eagle's original.

Arch Martin & Ed Dix - Two Guys from Kansas City
Stanley Turrentine - More Than a Mood
Nat Adderly - Work Song

I was only able to get through a couple of tracks of one that I had found at a thrift store - Dave Gruisin - Night Lives. Just not my cuppa.

Regards,

D-Ray
