Anyone know what the ratio of gun deaths from handguns vs. "assault rifles" is.I'd bet it highly slanted towards handguns,& throughout this thread I haven't heard a peep about the real killer out there the handgun. You can pass all the feel good legislation you want, ban this or that ,& as mentioned earlier you still have enough ordnance on the street to fight several wars.People may stand for some additional background checks,& closing other loopholes.Just start talking about rounding up guns and see what happens.I have a feeling that our duly elected legislators won't be doing much on this topic, business as usual.Just gonna cost the lobbyists more cash.

So, the answer is to do nothing? Just continue to feed the vicious cycle until the country is no longer worth living in?

Great.

Dave

I'm describing the current problems as I see them, solutions to those problems are a complicated matter. To do nothing is not the the answer, but I'm afraid the results of watered-down action will do nothing.you've got 80 million people out there that own guns, that do not see themselves as the problem, most are law abiding citizens. It's like being guilty by association.Just railing against assault weapons is not the answer.

Stop making sense.

Unfortunately, nuance does not move public opinion, and thus does not move politicians.

And that's the reason I believe something like what I proposed at Post #120 is going to be necessary. As to law abiding people, it's my belief that the overwhelming number of people who are by nature law abiding have no desire to own combat weapons.

I see a couple of reasons for the focus on assault weapons. First, an assault-type weapon was used in the most recent mass murder. Second, it demonstrates how extreme the gun lobby's position is with respect to any regulation.

What I was attempting to point out was, that either the NRA gets involved with a solution now instead of acting like a spoiled selfish little kid with their toys. Or shootings will continue until there will be such an outcry and such a backlash will then happen. Way more harsh then anything put forth so far.

I for one would like to keep my pistols. But it this is not address soon who knows what will happen.

Say what you like but the assault weapon have no place in polite society. Do any really think that if the US was invaded there would not be guns then handed out. No wait what about our Military? Or is this the wild wild west?

That Bushmaster 223 will protect you from the hellfire shot from the Predator right? A Tank?

I'm always reminded whenever hearing "Billy Bad A$$" talking about how his BIG GUN will protect him from the boogeyman. Talking up just how brave and powerful they are. Just reminds me of my youth and the many fights I fought and won BTW! The guy with the big mouth talking $hit didn't scare me at all. They cry easy O so easy.

To the extent that it suppresses foreign competition, they love it.

You know what, Pete, you're onto something...I am beginning to believe you rightwingers are nuts. And, the more you keep up this assinine stubborness, the more convinced I am. And guess what, Bud.....I'm not alone.

Alright Dave - the repeated question - If the proposed assault ban passes, what are you going to say come next shooting?

Are you really so thick, you can't see that?

Thankfully, there are some gun owners who are beginning to see the light. What are you waiting for?

If this is so serious, why are the ONLY measures feel good measures? We did something! Yay! Bam Bam Bam. I like how Biden says 'if we save one person it's worth it'. Really?

Boreas, by calling for mandatory confiscation you are by default calling for armed resistance.
