More importantly, though these mass shootings always get a lot of media coverage and though they really hit us hard, the account for a tiny portion of the total number of people murdered by firearms in the US. Out of a total of a little less than 17,000 homicides, about 11,000 people are murdered with guns in the US every year.
That's 30 people, or another Sandy Hook, murdered with a gun every single day.

Just think, John. If everyone was packin', then everytime some loon pops off it turns into an O-K Corral mele' wherein half of the shooters even realize who started shooting first. They just start shooting at everyone they see shooting at whomever they see shooting.
Great plan. Makes me feel all snuggly safe.
Regards,
Dave

Yeah, well I see it's worse in Syria and Columbia. So, there....we're NOT the worst, neener, neener, neener!

Surely Bushmaster/Freedom must have some record of the owners if only for their warranty program.

Hey maybe we can find some common ground. That study of Ohio crime put an amazing 90% of all gun crimes in urban areas. I didn't realise it was that high.
In NYC since they instituted the pat down law in the early 90s gun crime has dropped significantly. Maybe that should be used in other urban districts.
The skeptic in me says yeah right, in 5 years the cops/courts'll have it over every square inch of the country. But I'm tempted to back the idea for cities.

Why amazing? Urban areas are where 80% of us, as well as nearly all the poor, live.

Constitution?
If we're going to dump an amendment, I'd rather it be the 2nd than the 4th.
