I'm not a fan of cheaply made guns. Come to think of it I need a dose of Skynyrd's Saturday Night Special. Grr.

A Bushmaster is by no means a cheap gun. In fact, it's one of the favored AR-15 variants. It's pretty much a $1,000 dollar gun, with unlimited customization options.

Just curious, do you happen to know the price in 2001 during the sniper shootings? It may have gained street cred and profitability since then.
The bottom line is this. I can defend guns all day long when they are used to teach machining skills, hunting skills, woodworking skills, responsibility, game stewardship, history, etc.
Where I get lost is defending guns as a mere end to make money. I don't have the stomach for that cheap of an argument.

Here's two things to remember,There is not going to be a mass round-up of some 300 hundred million guns, and there will not be any meaningful gun control legislation happening. So I think people need to concentrate on the nuts that are using these weapon to slaughter innocents.I would like to see the purchase of long guns put on the same level of handguns, eliminate gun show purchases that occur the same day.Make background checks more meaningful,by weeding out as many Psyche cases as possible. The political will just does not exist for change.Btw I have a sizeable collection on military styled semi-auto rifles, autoloading handguns with hi-cap magazines.Like they say 80% of guns are owned by 20% of gun owners. These are not where the problems arise from.At gun shows and online it's possible to buy WWII machane gun parts kits that can be fairly easily returned to service by people with some welding&mechanical skills. These kits have been around for years. How many of these have you heard of being used in either crimes or mass shootings,I myself have heard of none.My politics are left leaning,& I've never given a dime to the NRA.Some people enjoy collecting guns some enjoy collecting stereo gear.Or both

Can we all agree that buying bullet proof vests, swat clothing and the likes should be regulated?

Why would we agree to that? Persuade us.
Be ready for videos of soldiers that say they need their private gear in combat because the government won't buy it for them. Are the videos propaganda? I don't know. But the debate is old.

Someone in the military owning a vest or a police office are people who daily carry a gun to protect us all. But a average citizen who want to play dress up bad ass is a totally different story. When a average citizen can purchase a badge, uniforms and protective gear used by officials in police departments this is a different argument in my eyes.
Allow the military person to get them is they so want to but return for a credit or sell to the next when not needed further.
I still have to think this is a very selfish argument to made that just because I can be trusted then let all be able to. The truth is you can not just trust people to do the right thing period. That is why laws are enforced everyday .
