When will we hear the end of "fiscal cliff?"

I suppose that its the nature of politics and journalism that particular catch-phrases and shorthand become predominate for short spurts. But I am sick and tired of the term "fiscal cliff" and all of the plays on words that fall off of it. The 99% was used pervasively for awhile and slipped into more occasional use. The 47% has had some staying power. "Arab spring" showed up in some pretty hefty word clouds. I just hope that we have reached the saturation point of this latest key word, and that maybe people can find a more rational way to identify the economic state of affairs.

Regards,

D-Ray

I've heard "fiscal curb" and "bunny slope". I agree that cliff is an annoying term that doesn't cover it. Fiscal Russian roulette?

WAPO suggests "Austerity Crisis"
One commenter suggests "poison pill", I'd like to go with that.

Poison pill makes sense to me. It does a better job of conveying the sense that the politicians did this willingly, rather than the fiction that this is something that they just came upon. Austerity crisis communicates well the danger faced by the GOP approach. Another description is the ongoing game of chicken. Finally, Norquist soup.

I heard someone on TV (can't remember who) say that we are in a car at 4:00AM and Lindsey Lohan is driving.
