It must've been me calling him a Darwinist that got him all hot and bothered. Gaw, then he went all Thessalonian on me...

Could be worse, poor Steph Miller got in bed with the Salvation Army and the LGBT community went ballistic. I guess having one wingnut bible thumper getting his knickers in an uproar for being called a monkey lover ain't so bad...

As I stated already, I didn't make it about religion, and I'm not the one keeping it about religion. Here's a recap of how we got here-
1. I stated the obvious, that part of the planet's overpopulation problems is due to human compassion altering the natural order.
2. Bob says I'm not very Christian thinking that way.
3. I provide multiple examples that Christian teaching emphasizes each individual pulling their own weight.
4. I'm informed that anyone's viewpoint can be reinforced by some Bible passage.
5. I challenge that assertion. My challenge goes unanswered.
6. The ridiculous claim is made that interpretations of Bible passages are copyrighted.
7. Dave proves he's not paying attention when he says "so what?" that redistribution isn't in the Bible (see #4 & 5 above). Then goes on a tirade of how evil I am for being realistic.

If one of the administrators wants to move this to the religion area, I'm sure they'll do that. If anyone is interested in bringing the thread back to it's intended subject, I'm sure it will happen.
If the moderators feel I've infringed on copyright, they can shut down my account and you won't have to hear any more.

I think the "natural order" you're referring to was relegated to history in most parts of the world (other than places like the mountains of New Guinea and remote African tribal regions) once humankind progressed from the hunter/gatherer stage to agriculture and animal husbandry. Now, less than 2% of Americans are engaged in agriculture and produce surpluses of nearly every agricultural commodity.

I hear the admins aren't just shutting you down, they're going to Alaska to set you on fire!

Don't be lighting out. There's few enough of us correct people here as it is

Okay, I'll say this about Proverbs and no more. The only sense in which Proverbs can be considered "scriptural" is in that it appears in the Old Testament. It's neither Torah nor Divine prophesy. All it is is the "cultural wisdom" of a bunch of semi-nomadic pastoralists from about 3,000 years ago.

Proverbs is usually attributed to Solomon. Sometimes there are other names cited but many scholars think they may just be other names for Solomon. (That happens a lot in ancient writings.) In any event, Solomon was, as you must know, a king, the secular leader of his people. He wasn't a rabbi and he wasn't a prophet, just the "top guy" for a period in the history of the tribe.

Parenthetically, he was also a serious womanizer.
