Pete, if you go far enough back, EVERY nation was created by conquest and/or expansion
(especially this one).

Sheesh!

So China is a pacifist nation? I think of the (government encouraged) rioting over that hotel bombing, and their current hardball with Japan. On top of the territories mentioned.

Any monks self-emmolate today?

It could change. They've got a nascent middle class, and there's always that succession problem. But for the moment it's probably a good idea to watch them very closely.

I used to think we had a kind of MAD with them financially. We owe them what, 1.5 trillion or so iirc? But they have over 2.8 tril in CASH reserves iirc. Further, they have gone from building junk that we designed to building all qualities of products they design themselves.

Again I find this strange. I'm not saying go bomb China or anything. However as they continue their climb back to their historical place in the world our interests will definately clash. Will they stay within the system of civilized nations? I certainly hope so. But I wouldn't hold my breath either.

Is it a midwest thang to consistently mis-spell definitely? Mebbe it's because y'all pronounce it that way? or is it defiantly that you mean?

Breath Pete, breath...

One thing I learned teaching Chinese software engineers. Their one child per family policy has created some of the most spoiled rotten young people it has been my misfortune to encounter.
