Ansar al Sharia may have been in the news, but the fact that they had claimed responsibility 2 hours into the attack wasn't.
Pretty sure Biden and others said they passed on exactly the information they had received, yet no mention that any group had claimed responsibility. In the past, that's always been included in the news report- "Towelhead Group XXX claims responsibility", so obviously it's something that's usually passed along to the media.
This time, no mention that anyone claimed the attack, for two weeks. Just a bunch of crap about youtube. Now we find out a group claimed responsibility while it was still happening.
And all the insisting that it was spontaneous, then we find out there were mortars were likely sighted in during daylight hours, and were recalibrated after the first volley.
And talk of a demonstration outside that was never reported even though embassies and consulates routinely report such events.
