Well maybe not so today....we have him on tape.

It is scary though....to have a potential Commander in Chief afraid of just coming out and saying what he really believes in. At this late stage you would think he would not give a rat's ass about the fringe right since he is supposedly neck and neck with Obama. The fact that he cowers to them even now shows what a weak person he really is. He really must be afraid of Norquist. If Romney wins God forbid is Norquist really going to be running the nation?
and Karl Rove.

Not sure what I'm missing here, except maybe an attempt to create a controversy.

This is further evidence why I feel that not only is Romney done as a viable presidential candidate, but I think the Republican party will splinter and fall apart also. I really don't believe that the the poll results show a clear picture of what is going on. The independents, and the non-religious, small government Republicans of old will not support war mongering, anti-abortion, big spending (military) Romney.

Ahhhhh, but, the new ones will, Erik. You've been away for a while. The new ones will tolerate just about anything, so long as they think there's a tax cut in it for them.

This is definitely not the party of Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt and Ike Eisenhower, anymore, my Canadian friend. It's the party of Gordon Gekko, Eric Cantor, David Siegal and Ayn Rand. Greed and apathy towards your fellow countrymen is what it's ALL about.

Regards,
Dave

I guess I still think too highly of Americans to believe they will fall for this BS in the long term.

They're gone. The Republican electorate has been weeding out all the elected moderates in favor of Tea Party nutjobs. Some of the moderates have just given up and aren't seeking re-election.

Tea Party activists are also infiltrating local school boards, boards of elections and local Republican committees so that they have a disproportionate voice in civic affairs of all sorts and at all levels.

Yep. And, it is ridiculous. We've got a few of them here. Good ad going around here about one of them and how he's done absolutely nothing but push religious agendas. Anti-Abortion, prayer in schools, religious icons in public buildings, protecting Christmas, some nonsense about church bells...etc, etc.-----Everything except economic issues. I've written him a few nice letters. He stopped responding a year ago. But, I still get his re-election mumbo jumbo in the mail................
