"Romney appears to pivot on abortion"
http://www.washingtonpost.com/politi...2a7_story.html
I wonder how the base is taking all of this? It is, after all, a central plank of the Republican platform. I suspect the talibangolists will be pissed and going to stay home rather than vote for a flip flopping Mormon. There goes another contituency down the tubes in Romney's desperate race to the center.
The teabaggers will be next. I'm waiting for Mitt to disavow extremism, like his daddy did.

In an interview with the Des Moines Register, Romney seemed to back away from his antiabortion position, suggesting that he would not actively pursue legislation that would outlaw abortions, a key objective among social conservatives.
“There’s no legislation with regards to abortion that I’m familiar with that would become part of my agenda,” Romney told the paper’s editorial board.
from the WaPo link above.
Romney's October surprise appears to be in full swing. He's becoming Obama.

Romney's handlers trying to walk it back. Sheesh, where do these idjits stand on anything?
"Later Romney’s campaign appeared to back away from his remarks, saying in a statement: “Mitt Romney is proudly pro-life, and he will be a pro-life president.”" WaPo

You mean to tell me Romney is a lying flip flopper that makes kerry look good. Everything he said in the debate was a flip flop or a lie. He did become Obama. Every position he ran on in the primaries and the election cycle changed that night. If he had actually stuck to his hard right wing guns he would have been toast in November. Instead he whipped out his Etch A Sketch and did a 180. Romney will say and do anything to get elected.
Already his bump in the polls is dwindling. I really wonder how close this race really is. The so called "Liberal media" has done everything it can to "tighten" up the race. Why? Because of the millions of dollars of corporate and union money they stand to gain if this is a close race. After all the corporate media are people.

I like how you see things, and wish more people saw it that way. Which to my mind is closer to reality than any of the silly shit I hear coming from people on both sides.
What kills me is the people claiming Romney called Obama on his lies......No, Obama just stood there and said nothing, or close to it. Have you seen the latest Obama ads after the debate? I think the next presidential debate is going to be much more interesting. Provided the president doesn't just stand there and get lectured by Willard for a second time. Let's hope not.
Regards,
Dave

See, and that's how Obama should be handling it.
The first thing out of his mouth at the next debate should be along the lines of;
"My positions haven't changed. But, I'm sure Governor Romneys have.....for the umpteenth time."
Regards,
Dave

Mitt kinda reminds me of what they say about the weather. "If you don't like the weather wait 5 minutes and it'll change."
He learned to read the audience at hand.

Using the Big Lie in order to win the Presidency.....lie long and loud enough people will believe you.
Well maybe not so today....we have him on tape.
It is scary though....to have a potential Commander in Chief afraid of just coming out and saying what he really believes in. At this late stage you would think he would not give a rat's ass about the fringe right since he is supposedly neck and neck with Obama. The fact that he cowers to them even now shows what a weak person he really is. He really must be afraid of Norquist. If Romney wins God forbid is Norquist really going to be running the nation?
