That sounds like the Conferacy and that was why they wrote the Constitution. As to sovereign strikes me that they still are but would prefer anarchy.

You're going to need to prove that.

Marshal Petain, a hero of the First War and hardly a "Leftist", was the leader of the Vichy government. The Vichy routinely rounded up Jews, Communists, Soshulists and other "undesirables" and turned them over to the Nazis.

French Communists, benefiting from the experience many had in the Spanish civil War, were a huge and important part of the "Maquis" (French Resistance). They captured and shot any Vichy official they could lay their hands on.

Before the war the French Communist Party became a signatory to the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact between the Soviets and the Nazis. This occurred in 1939, before even a shot was fired between France and Germany so it was irrelevant to the formation of the Vichy government. Also, it was a show of solidarity with the Russian Communist Party, not a capitulation to the Nazis (but I suspect that this is what you're going for, Pete).

Try again, Pete.

John

So you don't know about the left tricking the right to leave the country? Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

If not you will have to either believe what you will or perhaps try Shirers' Rise and Fall of the Third Reich (there's better, but not as all encompassing).

Pete

I hope I don't resemble a resource library too much.

Perhaps one of our fellow history buffs can back me up. It's not like it's some unknown secret....

If not, Amazon is an amazing resource.

Yeah I'm not certain I completely agree that Nazism was kinda integral to German character.

However his facts were certainly not roundly disputed.

Pete, if you're going to toss stuff like that into the conversation you really should be in a position to back it up.
