So Zeke, we are absolutely powerless?

Do the citizens of the United States of America have the stomach for yet another ground war, particularly in that region? Like it or not, that is an important consideration.

My guess is that if we take military action in Iran it will be carrier based aircraft and submarine launched cruise missiles.

Not being a reflexive ass: powerless to do what?

Framing the argument matters.

Off the topic of this thread... and out of context, but isn't that what the right has been trying to say would be good for this country? Decentralize I mean.

Back to the topic at hand.

That is sort of my point if you think about it....may have been inspiring to you....but there are thousands of dead Iraquis, and many dead Americans and wounded vets missing limbs. What if Moktada al-Sadr gains control and makes it another dangerous regime run this time by Shia extremists instead of Sunni Bathists?
Giving the neo-cons credit for the Arab spring is a stretch Pete...you know better than that....you saying George Bush inspired the Muslim Brotherhood,
is that it?

John,

Zeke, I agree with beej, it would be a punitive mission.

It is unlikely we'd be free without the French

Although I agree, we fought for it. But what about Japan, Germany, and vichy France?

And we would expect that to induce what? Internal policy change?

Somehow, I find that unlikely.
