In truth, and according to your own reasoning above, it's the environment that's pissed off, not environmentalists.

John, LMAO!! 'Yes We Can!'

The earth's atmosphere is over 1 billion cubic miles. I suspect we could come up with the technology if pressed, but where do we get the power? And of course the power useage adds even more to the problem.

The answer is space my friend Move pollution to space.

The only real fix is - space! Move all dirty industry & power generation to orbit.

Maybe the Chinese will let us up there when we finally get around to it.

Pete
What guarantees that it will stay there, been a few stationary orbits lately that refused to remain stationary.

The world population in over 7 billion people.

I think 7 people could take care of one cubic mile.

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." (quote by Chinese philosopher Laoz)

If we started now with the simple things we can do now. Like requiring all new homes and businesses to have solar panels for hot water when applicable. The use of methane generators on septic systems. This will at least put the gas escaping to some use. Building more Hydroelectric plants. Simple things like removing all the wall worts when not in use saves energy.

Look at the increases in energy consumption in the average home over the years. On most electronics sold today unless you unplug it will still draw current. They are left on standby when off.

Quit subsidizing the oil gas and coal industries. They are doing just fine. Use that money to fund alternative forms of energy and see what happens.
The country that figures out the solar panel manufacturing at a lower cost will own the next century. Unless the give the technology away like the US has been known to do.

Harder would be the requirement of an ever increasing percentage of vehicles goes to hybrid or full electric. Things like a taxi or buses could be done if we put our minds to it.

A country that gets off the oil fix will then be able to tell the Princes to go and FK themselves. Wars for oil and water if not already will be fought for in the future.

In the short term, you're right. -----In the short term.

But, we can begin to change things to reduce the rate of negative impact that we have on the environment.....

Does that make any sense?

But, we can't even do that....Because someone has half of the country convinced that every attempt to clean up emissions or conserve resources is part of some sort of sinister plot "steal" their money, make them eat broccoli and force their kids to become gay......

I wonder who THAT could be?

Dave

Is that what your new avatar is about? I was wondering

Anything we do here is a stopgap measure and disproportionally effects the poor.
