I believe that, at best, Cheney was motivated by avarice and ego. Scalia has an oversized ego as well, but I think that he is a "true believer." Unfortunately, Scalia has the opportunity to do more harm, because he is still relatively young and has a lifetime appointment. We have finally rid ourselves of Cheney, although we are still stuck with his evil spawn.

Neither is evil, but both are too ideological for my tastes. Of the two, I prefer Scalia because he at least has a veneer of intellectualism, whereas Cheney's veneer is comprised of bile.
