It was a dumb idea but there was ample 'stupid' to go around between the ATF and the NRA.

There is no cover up
1. Whether or not the amping up of the Bush gunrunner policy was a smart move or not no one is covering up the fact that guns were being sent to Mexico and not being interdicted.
2. No one is denying that Fast and Furious was an official program and that one of the ATF agents may have been killed by an American gun found at the scene.
3. It might have been stupid, but from what I can see Fast and Furious was not a crime. It appears to have been a weapons tracing program ran by the Arizona ATF office with approval from higher ups in Washington.
So where is the big cover up? Seems pretty open to me. Not a smart program. But
consistent with Bush administration policies. Of course if this were a Republican president Issa would be probably voting for a Jobs Program instead of scraping the bottom of a barrel for some excuse to grandstand.

Then explain the reluctance to turn over pertinent documents.

Documents leading up to the agents death may have pertinence, but documents from two months after? Can you say witchbunt, a famous, or rather infamous Issa trademark.

Meanwhile Congress does absolutely nowt but sit around with their thumbs up their collective butts.

Ongoing investigation, identity of informants, legal advice, deliberative privilege, and so on. The assertion of privilege is not the admission of guilt. It is protecting the privilege and protecting the integrity of confidential relationships. Protecting privileged communications promotes frank discussion where it is necessary.

You do not get it...there is no "there" there....the most damaging information is out. There is nothing left. You are looking for a document signed by Holder or Obama approving of Fast and Furious? It still would not matter. Issa himself has said there was no White House involvement I saw the headline on TV this morning.

Just another version of the McCarthyite Big Lie this time courtesy of Issa:
1) Come out and claim some sort of BS conspiracy.
2) Hold hearings. Smear the opposition party with a contempt of Congress vote.
3) Go on Meet The Press and state no evidence of White House involvment.

They will not challenge with a court battle...if they lost on it would bolster the executive privlege claims of all Presidents with a landmark case and really cut back the oversight of Congress and the Republicans know that. Issa is dangerous on more than the just the Big Lie.

You do not get me. The problem I was having was the AG not turning over all of the documents asked for and then POTUS using his powers to back him up. Don posted a meaningful explanation of that, without getting personal and without getting political.
