Okay, so if you're right, the SCOTUS can rule the Mandate unconstitutional, a denial of rights and an "unfair taking" and then each of the 50 states, individually, can pass their own versions, depriving their citizens of those same rights?
So, tell me, Pete. Are you a citizen of Ohio or of the United States? Both you say? Well, which takes legal or constitutional precedence?

Interesting thought, insurance has been with us since antiquity in one form or another. Pete insists that healthcare (insurance) is not mentioned in the Constitution. Checking Madisons notes (which are very well indexed) the subject of insurance was not even mentioned in the debates, Insurance was slow to catch on in America in the early days so its abscence in the debates could be;
a) No body thought about it, or
b) It was taken for granted and not a fit subject for the document.
Come to think about it since the document is about setting up a form of government why in hell would the Constituion discuss it.

Pete is a citizen of Ohio, where freedom from overreach is hailed everyday....just do not get caught speeding on the I-80 (Ohio Turnpike)....the highway patrol's presence there rivals the KGB in tenacity.

Slavery is a perfect example. It didn't become illegal because the SC said it was. It became illegal because we amended the Constitution to make it so.
"The American political system is a federal system, in which constitutional authority is divided between a national government and state governments: each government is assumed to derive its powers directly from the people and therefore to have sovereignty over the policy responsibilities assigned to it. The federal system consists of nation and states, indivisible yet separate. "

If the concept of our government can't be grasped by us smart fellers we're finished and might as well be ruled by an ogilarchy. Aren't many here college grads?
On Washington, that obviously isn't applicable or it WOULD have been used. I'm just guessing here, the Feds have jurisdiction over that particular thing. I'll put $20 on it.
Rob, it isn't about insurance. Can the Feds force an individual to buy something? Stay tuned, the real masters of the universe are about to tell us.

I think my GED scores(B+) disqualified me from higher education not that I cared. I was too busy working. I do have to say that reflecting on the bacchanalian conduct enjoyed by the seekers of higher education has always been good for a chuckle when they wave their sheepskins about.
Not to say that getting hammered was everyones major in college...

The dropouts are the fartest smellers here
Still majored in getting hammered though!
You know, we basically are forced to buy things but through taxation. I always wondered about the mating habits of the Ugandan Buttfaced Anteater lol.
