Is Gov Tim Pawlenty a Viable Presidential Option?

For the republicans that is?

He's been spending a lot of time down in Iowa lately softening them up for next caucuses. He's also mentioned that he will NOT be running for Minn Gov again.

I just saw a Minnesota poll and the question was, "in the 2012 election, would you vote for Pawlenty or Obama?"

The results were surprising, and as follows:

Pawlenty 40%
Obama 49%

If Pawlenty can't even win his own state, Minnesota, a swing state by-the-way, he's doomed before he even starts.

But as of today, he is one of the top 5 leading candidates for winning the republican primaries?

Who else would top that current list, and does anyone see any surprises between now and nomination time?

No doubt we will see the same gang as 2008 minus McCain.
