I'm an American/Canadian born in NY state. I've lived in Canada for 49 years now.
I last lived in the US in the mid 70's when I was in my mid 20's.
I don't recognize a damn thing when I visit family back in the US; it's simply a different world than I remember.
Half my family is MAGA and the other half are woke, not much if any in between.
I lived in Arkansas before I came to Canada (to work) and I find no matter where I go in the US now that there's an undercurrent of redneckness that appears to permeate the air way more than was evident in 70's Arkansas.
WTF is going on in my native country? Have you all just gone bat-shit nuts?

As an expat I'll give you fellow Americans just one piece of advice.... change the way any politician is elected at any level.

Case in point: I live in Ontario, we are going to the polls on Feb. 27th to elect a provincial premier. All candidates have had ONE MONTH to state their platform - that's it.
