I recently had a discussion with a family member who's ex-army and in the process of getting his concealed-carry in NJ. He claims the qualification process is not trivial, and generally tows the whole NRA Good Guy With A Gun line as further rationalization. But some of my concerns would include: When is the last time this Good Guy With A Gun was at the firing range? Is he having a bad day today emotionally? Is he on medication? Is he taking drugs for recreational purposes?

I believe everyone arming themselves is only going to make matters worse. We need to confront the insane overabundance of firearms in the U.S., their ready availability, and of course, the social and political turmoil that's lead us to this point, and ask ourselves whether it's more important to "exercise your 2nd amendment right" or start down a path of removing guns from our society. I admit this is an intimidating proposition, and I certainly don't have specific answers for how to go about it. The longer this nonsense goes on, however, the more I find myself moving toward a hard-line stance on gun control - more specifically gun removal.

I like this!
Very well thought out and stated.
